Great article Warren. Amazing that the stories of comic books and cartoons are soon to be part of daily life. Brilliant women and men with out-of-the-box mindsets have already invented so many of these incredible gadgets and technical marvels. I wish that the ingenuity and timeframe for more affordable desalination, fossil fuel reduction and so many other climate oriented needs would be more top-of-mind and further along.

No doubt it is in our future. (Not in my because I am too old and also too chicken. I took a helicopter ride once and decided I didn’t ever want to do that again.) My guess is that the New Yorkers who already use air taxis will be some of the early adopters.

Even New Yorkers will have to be rich to get an eVTOL any time soon, Shannon. But eventually, they may be as affordable and widely accessible as autos are today. Seems like air taxis will come first, then personal versions. I will never be able to get one, but after my recent first trip in a helicopter, I might venture $250 for a ride some time in the future.

Wow, how fascinating Warren! Great article! Obviously it won't appeal to everybody, but amazing nonetheless.

The technology is fascinating, Jean, even if it’s unlikely to appeal to everyone. I can’t see myself in an eVTOL any time soon – if ever!

I am sure the upper middle class will delight in this new way to avoid interacting with we commoners. I don't see the majority of folks that I ride the bus with, being pilots or passengers. I am on the bus because I can't afford gas for my car. This makes me in a special category from my fellow passengers who can't afford a car.

I am truly disheartened by the continuing emergence of economic stratification that is happening.

You’re absolutely right, Sharon, that eVTOLs seem like expensive toys for the rich! But don’t forget that just over a century ago, so were regular cars. It wasn’t until Ford started mass production that they became affordable for most people. With the current price of gas, they’re less affordable than ever!

What’s fascinating, though, is how rapidly the technology is advancing. Perhaps in future generations eVTOLs will be as common and affordable as autos are today.
