Too much e-waste with all those extra chargers laying around. To make it easier on the consumers, this is a great idea, but not for the (rotten!) Apple!

Well, forgive me if I don't cry a crocodile tear for Apple. It is among the richest corporations in the world and pays hardly any taxes here in the US.

They have captured millions of customers in their closed ecosystem and I was one of them; I used to have a MacBook, an iPhone, and an iPad. But I just got tired of paying $700 or $800 every time I needed a new phone when I could get almost the same thing for about $200. The iPad died on its on its own after two years.

So I got a divorce from Apple, bought a $100 Android and feel quite happy if I have to replace it every year. I will still be hundreds of dollars a head.

The European Union is way ahead of us in forcing these mega corporations to change. I'm sure Apple is going to fight like hell to make sure this new rule doesn't get approved. But where is our government? Asleep at the switch!
