Warren, I agree the committee did a great job. Cheney in fact, gave up her career as she knew her critique of Trump would cost her the congressional seat. Her father certainly wouldn't have done that! The DOJ is still a political office but I suspect a lot of young DOJ lawyers would love to take on Trump's prosecution and thereby make their careers. Happy New Year!

Thank you Warren for engaging with this issue. Personally, I would love to see Trump tried, convicted and sent to federal prison. The evidence does seem profound, and a number of the lower levels of thugdom (Proud Boys, Oath Keepers etc.) are being lined up for incarceration. That's all good. However, I can never trust the Democrats to follow through. They are skilled at prolonging the war in the Ukraine by aiding and abetting a third rate politico who parades into Congress as a rescue case. They are skilled at stopping a railroad worker strike and help ensure those workers have no sick leave. They are also skilled at selling military weapons and ensuring petroleum profits.

Trump is a cash cow for the Dems. He will always be the lesser evil compared to tired cold warriors like Biden. Trump is a gift to the Dems and they would like nothing better than to see him run for president in 2024. A much more dangerous opponent would be DeSantis of Florida. So my bet is that nothing substantive will come to this. The DOJ will not prosecute. I hope I am wrong,.

Your skepticism is certainly justified by the record Roger, but I’m more optimistic this time for two reasons.

The committee did an outstanding job of investigating the Jan 6 riot and it’s report has already led to some notable success. Electoral Count Act reform is a good example of needed change.

The other is that the case is now out of the hands of the politicians and with the pros at DOJ. I have more faith in them to do what’s necessary to hold the criminals accountable.

We should find out early next year.
